Edomae Kiyomi (sushi omakase and tempura omakase)

Another new Japanese restaurant has recently opened up on Gerrard St East. This place offers sushi omakase course and tempura omakase course. They are having soft opening promotion at the moment, which is 20% off regular price (until end of Nov 2019) but need to pay in cash to take advantage of this promotion. Reservation can be made on Opentable, counter seating is for tempura, bar seating is for sushi. Or you could call to reserve and clarify. Sushi chefs used to work at Yasu, I presume experience could be similar. No comment about the sushi though as I didn't try them yet. I was more curious about the tempura.

The meal started with a plate of 5 assorted sashimi (picture not taken), followed by the tempura served piece-by-piece. Vegetable/sesame oil was used. It can't compare with those popular or high-end places in Japan, but I think it's still a good effort and introduction for Toronto. This place may seem expensive to most people though. Perhaps in the near future, there will be more tempura restaurants like this, either more affordable or more expensive (rumors are going around).
