I had a very nice meal at Edendale Grill last night with two friends. They seem to be trying to elevate the food a bit. As always, they have the best onion rings in town. I had a good steak, with a warm potato salad and veggies, very artfully presented. Another friend had a salmon she very much enjoyed, and the third in our party had a vegetable gratin that was light and fresh and tasted of summer. All three were new additions to the menu. I am a big fan of their BLT salad, but for summer they have added a Fried Green Tomato Salad with Grilled Shrimp that was out of this world. I am from the south and am very picky about FGTomatoes. These were perfect - crunchy on the outside, tender inside. They were covered with excellent greens lightly dressed with a buttermilk dressing and some kind of vegetable salsa. And the plate had three terrific grilled shrimp, some of the best shrimp I have had outside of the south. This salad is a must. Also, they are serving a lemon mousse for dessert that, if you like a tart lemon taste, is also quite wonderful. And of course, drinks in their incredible bar is a must before or after dinner.
