Unbeknownst to me, Eddison & Melrose Tea Room has been on the Monterey Peninsula for more than 10 years. Sampling the very British treats here has been one of the best parts of seeking out black-owned businesses. In 2017 the business relocated to Pacific Grove, tucked way in the back of the Forest Hill shopping center.
During the pandemic, tea time treats to go can be ordered for pick-up on Fridays and Saturdays. call or text 831.601.4851 or email email@example.com to place an order and pre-pay. Loose leaf teas can be ordered on Monterey Bay Food Tours online store, https://monterey-bay-food-tours.mysho... .
For my first time, I dropped by on another day of the week when in the neighborhood and spotted the top half of the Dutch door open. I could smell the sweet aroma of baking wafting out. I turned the doorknob to let myself in and inquired whether any of the baked goods might be available for sale. I was offered two frozen blueberry scones, $2.50 apiece. Sold! And a little bit of lemon curd came with them.
Then a few weeks later I was nearby on another random day and stopped in. This time the proprietress had some other freezer stock to offer, a huckleberry scone with a choice of sweet cream, curd or jam and sausage rolls with mustard dip, 4/$12. I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. Some day, I'll plan far enough ahead to place an order and taste things freshly baked.
