Echigo Dinner Omakase

Alice | May 25, 200305:34 PM

After having been going to Echigo for over a year for their really great lunch special. I finally decided to try their Dinner Omakase. It was delicious! So, just wanted to share some of what we had in case you're interested. =) I was almost expecting the similar stuff as lunch special, but was pleasantly surprised with the mix of things. We started off with some albacore sashimi with some balsamic vinagrette. that dish was very interesting - never had anything like that, the pieces that didn't have that much sauce on it were very tasty, however i still prefer ponzu sauce. i can't remember what came next, but in the mix we had bonito (a kind of tuna - not bad), skipjack, which was also rather good. oh toro was very tasty, and the salmon is the same as the lunch special, which i'm not a big fan of salmon but they have the best salmon. we also had fresh scallops which was really really yummy as well except there was a lil sand. we had a cooked halibut fin type of sushi that was interesting and different, but a lil too much ponzu. then we also had kanpachi, uni - i LOVE uni, and the crab roll. i'm thinking i'm missing something . . . but overall it was very good and it was $30 per person. =) just wanted to share. it was not busy at all but then we were there around 9pm, not many customers. but then the day b/f when i went for lunch special, it has gotten really really busy. ok thanks for reading. =)
