Eating Plan for this Weekend-Comments Plz

kaitak98 | Feb 26, 200809:18 AM

Heading down to New Orleans for the first time since the storm this weekend. My buddies are more Bourbon St. and Big A** Beer types but are up for Chow if I can just get them moving in that direction. Places have to be casual reservations probably would be too structured.

So here is what I have in mind-

We arriveThursday we arrive around 3PM-

Graze around The Quarter starting with oysters at Felix or Acme and ending with a burger at Port of Call. Any ideas for other stops appreciated.

Cafe Du Monde if we get up in time.

Head up Magazine St to Casamento's for some gumbo and oysters. Next, walk over to The Big Fisherman for some crawfish to go. Sit on the patio at The Bulldog and enjoy the 70 degree weather for a while while we eat and knock back some pints. (It's been snowing here at home for 3 weeks.)

Maybe heat Ernst Cafe for the crawfish boil mentioned on another thread. Then I'm thinking Coop's for dinner.

Johnny's for a Po Boy and then Central Grocery for a Muf to go before heading to the airport. Are both of these open on Saturday.

Anything I might be missing that fits the bill for my group? I'd also love any dive bar or music suggestions that are Quarter convenient (with chow so we stay on topic).

I'm really looking forward to getting back to NO. It's been more a matter of schedule than reluctance that has kept me away this long. I'll be going back in October with a friend who is al little more receptive to finer dining and will be hitting you up for those recommendations then.
