I am doing some Pulled Pork for soup kitchen lunch this week. Last night I cut up the meat, sprinkled with some seasonings and slathered with Club House La Grille Smokehouse Maple Marinade. Covered the pans with heavy duty foil and refrigerated overnight. This morning when I took them out of the fridge, the foil was perforated with little holes wherever it touched the meat. I was a little disturbed by this. I removed the foil and replaced it before putting the pans in the oven. Just checked them now and AGAIN holes!
What is eating through the foil? Marinade ingredients (slight abridged to remove unnecessary detail): sugar, tomato paste, water, vinegar, salt, maple syrup, malt vinegar, canola oil, cornstarch, molasses, dehydrated garlic and onion, soy lecithin, corn maltodextrin, potassium sorbate, ascorbic acid, spice extractives. So is it the vinegar? I haven't experimented with sprinkling vinegar in foil as a test but this is the only thing I can think might be doing this.
Am I poisoning anyone? Very upsetting. I will not use this product with foil ever again. I only used it because they had some in the soup kitchen pantry.
