Eating Charlotte

Holly Moore | Jan 11, 200305:29 PM

I'm in Charlotte through the 15th and looking for some good eatin' not to be confused with fine dining. Some call it road food - inexpensive to moderately priced, stuff like breakfast, dogs, burgers, fried chicken, fried fish (any "fish camps" nearby), bbq of course, and most any other down home cooking. Charlotte area "institutions" too.

Today's my first day and so far I've hit John's Country Kitchen for breakfast, drove to Jaybee's in Statesville for a foot long dog, and picked up some fried chicken to gnaw while I watch the Eagle whoop the Falcons.

I've also been pointed to Lupies, the Original Pancake House, the Coffee Cup, Green's Lunch, Red's BBQ, and Bridge's BBQ in Shelby.

Any of these I must hit? Avoid? Where else within 40 or so miles of Charlotte should I eat? Someone also told me about a hot dog stand (mobile cart) called Buzzy's and Bears Grill but I have no idea where to find it if it's still around. Anyone know it?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
