A couple of weeks ago I was part of a large group at Grand Sichuan on St Marl's. Ordering was handled by other people in the group ... I never even saw the menu. Really enjoyed all the dishes, appropriate for a cold winter's evening, but they had a certain sameness. Lots of strong, heavily sauced, fried, spicey dishes.
But there was one exception, that I just loved. It was identified as soft tofu with green sauce. It was served cold, perfectly white crumbs of tofu with a thin, oily but light, emerald green sauce. The person who had ordered it thought it was mostly cilantro, but It wasn't strong enough. It was like eating a spring cloud.
Any idea what we had?
