eating out

Punjabi Dhaba | Apr 5, 2004 09:32 AM

Had it for dinner last night, and I have to say, if you order the right stuff, this place can be oustanding. I typically order a saag when I get Indian, and the first time I came here, it was completely unmemorable- no texture, no clear spinach taste, just pretty bland in general- so this time I stayed away from it. Also, I am not a fan of the paratha- tastes like the pan they cook it in- stick with naan. Had the chicken tikka masala and the chicken vindaloo- YUM. I have to say, you probably cannot go wrong with a chicken dish here- they do it very, very well. The chicken is unbelievably tender, and so well soaked with all the flavors of the dish. hmmm craving it right now. The Vindaloo was not spicy, (I didn't ask- next time I will) but it was so flavorful, with tons of spice and a nice hint of cinammon. The tikka masala was delicious as well. If you go to this place, accepting of the atmosphere (bangra music BLASTING- no joke, tin trays, tiny space) and order correctly, it'd be hard to be disappointed. Oh! And the mango lassi is fantastic- definitely try it.
I'll be heading back here again...
