I'm really interested where people really eat. We can't all be going to Lumiere and Cru and Lucy Mae Brown every night...where do you REALLY eat? What hole in the wall do you frequent? What gets you excited about the food somewhere other that the big name big money joints? My thing is, that I can go to these popular, widely touted critically acclaimed places and have a meal and quite frankly, most of the time I go home thinking I could have done it better myself. Then I go to some little thai place where it's a 29 year old woman and her mom and a couple of aunties (hi Lynn!) and I am blown away by the food and want to go there every day. Or I stop at a little shop I have never been in before and I am bowled over by the quality of the ingredients available. Where are these places for you? From Hope to West Van...lets here about some good food.
Me...I live in Chilliwack...and I am blown away by the gang at our local thai place - Chilies. Out of this world good, cheap and not pretentious. Not a hole in the wall by any means, but not fancy. They could give Rob Feenie and Bis Moreno a run for thier money! I am also a big fan of the Joiner family corn - a local farm family with a great handle on how to grow all things corny. I can't wait for the season to start!
