Where to eat and drink to feel like you're in New York?

lapengia | Mar 23, 201505:03 AM     15

I'VE ALSO POSTED THIS IN MANHATTAN AS IT COVERS ALL OVER AND I'M NOT 100% SURE WHERE STUFF IS!!

We land tomorrow in NYC for a week of flaneuring and eating.

We live in Hackney, London, so I'm particularly seeking stuff that's as different as possible from some of the trends/name chefs you see in both cities. Particularly interested in anywhere that showcases regional US cuisine, and the more 'obscure' ethnicities (sorry to be relativist!)

But also general tips for good eating and drinking and good times.

Looking for top tips under the following headings. Places I'm considering are below, please comment and add anything you think I've missed.

We're staying W Village & LES, but more than happy to travel anywhere.
Price less important than quality of food/experience - will be extravagant if it's worth it $150+ pp for food). But prefer casual and friendly to really fancy/bling/stiff. Prefer nowhere with strict dress code. Thanks!

Oh and prefer no queues (ha!)
