Many of you on this board are familiar with Earthen Restaurant in Hacienda Heights, and particularly their onion pancakes, which may be the best version in the LA area. You may also be familiar with the fact that the place can be a zoo with the crowds and waiting for tables. If your problem is the crowds, then what effectively is the express branch of Earthen which opened a few months ago, Easy Earthen, is the answer. Easy Earthen doesn't have the stir fry dishes that Earthen has. But really the main attraction of Earthen is the green onion pancakes, dumplings, buns, and all that, and Easy Earthen has these along with a few new items (e.g., beef rolls, chicken rolls). The onion pancakes at Easy Earthen are just as good as the main branch, the fish dumplings are terrific, and the chicken rolls are better than 101 Noodle Express with a softer pancake with crisp spots. Most of Easy Earthen's business is take out, so if you want to dine in you can do so in relative peace and quiet. Indeed, the food is served in plastic take out containers, not dishes, so when you are finished you can put the lid on your leftovers and take them with you. Easy Earthen is at 18303 Colima Road, #A, on the NE corner of Colima and Fullerton Road. Closed Mondays.
