Eastern Standard...can't say I wasn't warned...

NickCambridge | Aug 4, 2005 07:36 PM

I was there recently during the afternoon for a snack and a glass of wine. Three people sitting at the large bar, about 10 in the restaurant. I sit down and wait...and wait...and wait....and watch the two young male bartenders walk back and forth and back and forth talking to the pretty young women at the bar. Finally, (in front of me, no less), one said "hey, can you take care of that guy?" the other said "what guy?"..."the guy right in front of you." ...."Oh, what do you want?"

Determined to stay, I ordered two very nice glasses of rueda and a mediocre plate of steak the crowd started filling the bar, I couldn't help noticing that the suits were the stars for the waitstaff. "Hey, blah blah blah is the owner of this/chef of this/works at this...blah blah blah"

Service was pulling taffy the entire time. Mind you, I was reading a book...and having bartended for years, I never push myself on staff. This was gross....I may not go back for a while. It reminded me of Sonsie in its ridiculous times...I'm too old for 'fabulous' many of you guys have said it's not what it's being made up to be?? I need to start listening...
