EASTERN EUROPEAN DUMPLINGS -- Home Cooking Dish of the Month, June 2021

Welcome to the Reporting Thread for our June 2021 Dish of the Month (“DOTM”), Eastern European Dumplings. The purpose of this thread is to collect reports from Hounds about their preparation of these dumplings during the month of June (and after), replete with any pictures that you may want to share.

To find recipes, you’ll have best results if you search with a country name (“Eastern European” won’t work) or the specific dumpling name (such as pierogis, pelmini, varenyky). The 10 countries that constitute what the UN considers to be Eastern Europe https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/w... were all once part of the eastern, communist bloc of countries led by the Soviet Union prior to 1990. Alphabetically they are: Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic (formerly, together with Slovakia, known as Czechoslovakia), Hungary, Poland, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine.
