Eastern Empire, another steady but unspectacular resto at Sacto.

Resto at Sacto, I like that. I am going to tm that phrase as my own.

Anyhow, back to Eastern Empire for lunch (Howe Ave. just south of Fair Oaks, in the same strip mall as Safeways). It's good if not spectacular. It's Shanghai style, if you can pin a style to your usual lunch plate type resto.

We had the garlic shrimp rice plate, and a preserved vegetable and pork soup noodle bowl that's not on the menu.

The soup noodle is huge, enough to feed at least two people. It's thick round noodles in the Shanghai style. Noodles are properly chewey. The rice plate is also very large. Both are flavorful. Our prior experiences with other rice plate options are that they are always very good, and good portions.

The bill came to $13.00. Why would anyone even go to Taco Bell's?
