East Village takeout/take-away--need new ideas!

Hi Hounds!

The BF lives in the EV and we are in desparate need of takeout ideas since out claims of 'I will cook dinner!' turn into 'oh, lets just order in'.

Even though I love thai and vietnamese food, I don't want to risk it because that cuisine is usually garnished with peanuts and he's allergic.
the cash flow is pretty low, so we usually order some variation on mexican or chinese.

What are the best of these two in the area? Specifically looking for:
an awesome tomatillo sauce and gaucamole and

good dumplings and hot and sour soup- (I forget the name of the chinese place we usually order from, but I'm never thrilled with the shrimp or pork dumplings).
I like the dumplings from dumpling man on st marks, but don't want to make trips to 100 different places to get soup and dumplings.

other suggestions? something healthy perhaps? I'd like to keep the price to about $10 p/p.
