Dosa Lover | Aug 21, 2003 04:42 PM

2 months back when i moved here people suggested to me a variety of choices about 7$ meals. here are my findings of cheap/medium priced food in the east village.

The purpose of this is to identify cheap places where people like me can take food home after a busy day at work

please add to it. lets enjoy the village fully.

1. bereket on houston not bad at all turkish pizza is like a taco for 2.50 need to to fill up

2. new saigon vietnamese 1 ave 4th st place strongly recommended
try their chicken salad for 4$ and chicken corn soup for 1.60 (why bother opening a campbell tin)

3. punjabi deli 1st st between 1 and ave a 2$ rice and curry bowl or 4$ bigger bowl

4 rays pizza 5$ meat lasagna with bread its huge
take it home

5 popeyes cheap deep fried chicken new orleans style
fast food chain 1 ave and 12th st

6 japanese place win 49 on allen st 7$ bento box try the curry bento. has boxes of food as sample to show you what u get

7 subway on 1st between a and b ave has a second sub for 99 cents and u buy a large drink

8 all chinese takeouts i went to are the same (bad to very bad quality but really cheap. if you want cheap food then chinese is your choice can get 1/2 freind chicken and rice for 4$ i prefer popeyes fried on the rare ocassions that i eat fried food
