Can anyone out there help this poor, unfortunate MA. transplant re-create some of the wonderful
Chinese/Polynesian dishes of my youth that simply do not exist on the West Coast. I have been living in California for 20 years and have searched from San Diego, to LA. to San Francisco, and as
many of you have noted, the Chinese food is vastly different here from what I grew up on in the
Boston suburbs. Not that its bad, after the initial shock I actually have come to appreciate the different style, but I still crave the simple pleasures of a PuPu platter and crunchy fried rice with Brown Lobster sauce like we used to eat at least once a week at places like the Makaha in Acton MA.Yummmmm!
I would love to be able to replicate a few of the simple dishes, especially the fried chicken wings with their crispy, slightly sweetness, and the BBQ spareribs with their slight char. I have seen receipes for eggrolls but nothing else. Does anybody out there know the secret to these dishes or have a suggestion as to where I can find receipes? I would be most grateful! : )
