Thought it might be interesting to start a thread on "early bird bargains". Diners frequently have these types of deals... soup, salad, dessert and entree for one price.
Tonight we hit a real bargain.. I couldn't believe the price. My youngest daughter turned 2 today, and she picked Dusal's on Union Hill Rd. in Manalapan for her birthday dinner. Originally I was going to get a meatball sub (they have the BEST meatballs I've had anywhere!), but I saw the early bird menu and decided to try that.. the only hard part was making up my mind. The prices ranged from $7.95 to $10.95, the most expensive dish being shrimp parmigiana. I ended up getting eggplant rollatini for $7.95. With this I got a beverage (root beer), choice of soup or salad, entree, and dessert. I got a Caesar salad, which was quite large and excellent. Entree was a good-sized portion, and I took leftovers home (you also get a choice of pasta.. I had capellini). Dessert was choice of chocolate or vanilla cake.. simple, but moist and just enough. Wife had chicken parmigiana, also $7.95, and loved it as well. The kids had pizza slices. We were also served complimentary warm bread, as well as a plate of 4 pieces of bruschetta on toasted bread. I got to eat all 4 since no one else wanted them. :)
Dusal's is BYOB, too.. I saw people bringing in bottles of wine. Good opportunity to have a nice, inexpensive dinner out.. blow the money you'll save on the wine. :)
Anyone know of any deals as good as this in NJ?
