I just ate @ Dylan Prime last night w/my brother (the other Stoler on this board, so don't trust a word he says!). Had a "NY Strip" that was eh...Hell I don't even like the name. If there is truth in advertising it should be called a Shell steak! No, us native NY's do not call anything a NY this or that or NY the big apple! I'm rambling here, sorry. Anyway, the steak was marinated insomething which is always a bad sign. This is the trick of lousy and cheaper chain type places. The whole place reminded me of the mid '80s investment banker rah rah thing. The bar has a big display of Dom Perignon bottles and the shelf units/cellar in the main room displayed for all to see lots of bottles of Louis Roeder ( I think that's the label what w/my glasses and all). The wine list a bit overpriced. The main thing though, the steak just wasn't up to snuff, not for $28.00. The beer list was ok, but the beer cooler kept the beers as cold as ice. Thats ok for Bud, it fact it's required for that swill but not for Chimay or Sierra Nevada. Normally, I'll give the place a 2nd shot but not here. There are too many steak houses in NYC and 99% of them either suck, or full of attitude. The search for my holy grail, a great steak at a good palce continues.
