Dutchess County Surprises

Imagine our thrill to have a couple of wonderful meals in Dutchess County last week. In Poughkeepsie, Saigon Cafe (not to be confused with Miss Saigon) was really lovely. The husband and wife team are not to be missed and they will attend to you in a very caring way..if you need attending. By the way, easy bank parking was a plus, too. Cafe Maya, in Fishkill, right on Rt 9 (great location for commuters) was also great. We went with friends from Mexico who enjoyed the freshness and the lack of the abundance of "tex-mex." I understand that the same owner owns a restaurant in Cold Spring, as well. We are trying the new Thai place on lower Main Street in Beacon next week. Has anyone eaten there yet? It is great to see the competition stepping will be all to our benefit. Additionally, as a critic of Umami Cafe's lackluster, un-creative fusion menu, and the overabundance of "same old thing" Italian restaurants, we are glad to see some more international cuisines popping up.
