Durian Ice Cream at Chinatown ICF

I don't remember which day this was exactly, but if put up on the rack, I'd probably say the 5th.

Anyway, what I'm prepared to divulge under threat of torture put aside: I stopped by the Chinatown Ice Cream factory and finally caught them with durian ice cream in stock.

What an interesting flavor. I have yet to eat straight durian, but have had it included several times as a component of other desserts. Still, this was the first time the prime focus of something I was ingesting was durian.

Imagine you have a very pleasant, tropically-flavored food in your possession; you take a big mouthful, allowing light pineapple and banana flavors to mingle in your mouth. And, while this delicately delightful dance is playing out on your 'buds... you walk over to the Fresh Kills landfill and inhale deeply.

Honestly, it's really odd. If you don't think about it, it's a very pleasant flavor. If you do think about it, you feel as though you finally understand what it would be like to lick well-aged refuse.

I look forward to trying it again.
