Taking 3 kiddos to MT market today (under 6 yrs of age). Where's a good dumpling spot nearby for lunch?? Thx!!
Sorry, just saw this. The only place nearby that I know has dumplings is Rice Bowl. Haven't had them, though.
TC Noodle House has the best selection of dumplings for many miles.

Hopefully you found that out yesterday :-)

Thanks we did end up at TC. was disappointed in the pan fried pork/shrimp dumplings though. next time i'll try a steamed dumpling. our seemed reheated and were falling apart : (
Lotus7 I have looked and haven't found any good pan fried dumplings that come half close to the ones that spoiled me in MD suburbs of DC at this place: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/a-and-...
The reason I'm including the link and the photo is because I crave those to no end and hoping someone here knows of similar versions. I'm guessing I'll have to hit up Houston for something reasonable. I just had the Zhong dumplings at Asia Cafe - too doughy and not spicy enough for my taste. The dough to filling ratio was much too much. San Dong Cafe in Houston looks to be close with the long tube like versions as opposed to the smaller envelopes: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/san-do...
I miss A and J so much.
I know - where can we get a thousand layer pancake like theirs? uhh, nowhere is my guess. I really do wish Asian cuisine in general would step it up around here.
Coco's cafe has some of the stuff, but it's not just the same. We would go eat dinner there at least once a month for year. It and korean have been the 2 things we haven't really replaced. The korean places here are OK but not what I'm used to.
i've enjoyed the stuff at Chen's Noodle House, the leek pie in particular, but agree, it's just not the same quality and magical flakey goodness and flavor as the stuff back in rockville.
just heard of saigon cafe on hudson bend road. wonder if it's as legit as the yelpers suggest? reviews thus far are that it's pretty darn good sounding. they grow their own herbs, veggies, etc. in their own garden.
You can get hand-wrapped, pan-fried dumplings with a similar dough-to-meat ratio at my mom's house...
*sigh*
I've had their dumplings and don't have a cross word.
I've only tried two of the 6 on the menu and they were fine. But I do wonder if they have too many that they can't all be fresh all the time. But they should freeze well and cook up fine that way <shrug>. At least they do for me at home.
I agree, not a fan of TC's dumplings. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll still eat them if you want to go... but it's a bit disappointing.
