Duluth to Canadian border

Just finished a great trip up the north shore. Had a quick but delicious dinner at the Scenic Cafe just north of Duluth. I had a remarkable black bean soup with lots of spice and crisp vegies.

At Tofte, Minnesota the breakfasts at Coho Cafe were super-especially the granola pancakes. The restaurant at Bluefin Bay had good but not great breakfasts with rather slow service.

The Angry Trout in Grand Marais is a real treasure from impeccable service to a fantastic house salad complete with edible flowers, fresh berries and pea pods, to fresh out of the lake fish. A unique dinning experience.

We headed out on the Gunflint Trail to a remarkable dinner at the Northwoods Lodge. The battered walleye was unbelievable with a side of au gratin potatoes. Prices were not cheap, though but it was a sensational dinner, in this beautiful lodge overlooking the lake.

(of course the following day we went to the State Fair and our healthy eating took a major fall)
