This past weekend my wife and I were in DC for a wedding and took time to check out some Ethiopian restaurants. I must say, U Street certainly has changed during the few years since we last visited DC. The Ethiopian scene rivals that of Adams Morgan. Based on postings from fellow chowhounds, we dined at Dukem, on U and 12th(?). Simply put, the place was great. Delicious food, decent service, warm atmosphere. We had a vegetarian combo, with all of the usual tasty ingredients: greens, lentils, chickpeas, etc. The grilled fish on the side was dynamite. All in all, it was worth much more than the paltry $18 we spent. And we were so full that we nearly rolled down the street afterwards. Thanks, chowhounds, for such a great recommendation.
