Anyone else had a chance to imbibe on "The Duke" @ Bar La Grassa in Minneapolis. I can't get over how refreshing it is and the "tomato olives" that they use as the garnish. So imagine, a fine tuned Pimm's Cup cocktail, I believe they fortify with gin and very lightly sweetened lemon juice. And last night after having drank The Duke about the last 4-5 times I've been to BLG, I asked the waitress why the "olives" were so delicious to which she replied, "I don't know" but then when I asked for some more, I realized the olives are not olives, they are very specifically cured green tomatoes that seem like olives and they are awesome.
Man this drink is great, and I don't like sweet, but it's very minimally sweetened, loaded with tons of muddled mint, and then contrasted with tart salty green tomatoes.
I need to reverse engineer this drink, which I'm usually pretty good at but that means I need to go back and memorize the drink description because they don't post their drink menu on their website. I ordered the Tom Olives stat on Amazon.
Let me know if you've had this drink or if you've tried to make it at home. If I can figure it out I'm worried I'll be stuck in my backyard for most of the summer.
