After wanting to try Ducasse for a while i had lunch there last week, the $65.00 special, both the food & service were very good but certainly not the best i've ever had! I've eaten at many very good restaurants including 3 star Mitchalin in France (which incedently were just ok also). At the end of the meal ($230.00 for 2 with one glass of wine inc tip) i was left somwhat disapointed, the food good classical french was not at all innovotive or creative just simple well presented food available at Bistros all over the city for 1/4 of the price, if i was paying for the free caramels or lollypops or the fact we got 2 napkins its just not worth it! The service was very good also but again i've had better in NYC, I know some snobs say if you worry about how much it costs you should not eat there, i say bollocks....everything is reletive & if you charge the most $$$$$ you had better be the best & in NYC thats a hard thing to do. I won't be going there again i will haul my (cheap skate) butt up to Daniels eat like a king, order a $300 bottle of vintage Burgandy & still have change from what the pre-fix & a bottle of plonk would cost at Ducasse. Sorry to all you foodie snobs who are reading this but value for money does come into it.
