South of the 210 Freeway and running parallel with the 210 is Duarte Road. Driving on Duarte Road from Myrtle Ave., Monrovia heading Westbound to Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia (Six blocks?) are several otherwise hidden Fast food places that are better than most and worth a try if you are nearby.
Los Chiles Locos (Try Hard Tacos with shredded roast beef, Asada tacos and burritos Also, must try the Nachos, they fry thier own chips, great cheese, and asada. Take some left-over red salsa home and fry your eggs with it Great!)
121 W. Durate Rd.
Next to the carwash at the corner of Myrtle.
Jims Famous 1/4 pound Burger. Once upon a time before the Global Economy (A Polytricks euphemism for, Learn to eat like the third world) all Patty Melts had Two patties. At Jims Try the old-time Patty Melt w/ TWO 1/4 pound char-broiled burgers. Also try the Turkey Club, Tuna Melt, Avocado Sandwich , and Avocado, Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Sandwich, also Homemade Fried Zucchini or Onion Rings. Did I forget the chili?)
915 W. Duarte Rd.
Monrovia, CA 91016
Burger Basket (Like the name says, Burgers. I have a friend that eats here about four nights each week and he is married ? I like the burger but I most like the place because eating inside reminds me of a burger joint in NYC No nonsense please --Just feed me and give me a window to watch the traffic. I think a much better burger is nearby at Canadian Café but Burger Basket is a habit kind of place)
501 W Duarte Rd.
Corner of Mayflower Ave.
Submarine Express (Lunch time only 10:30 to 3:00?, Fresh bread with a little chew OK, Very good fresh meats but a small amount but the price is even smaller so maybe ...double the meat?, No, you dont need it. The Itallian sandwich has dressing that is soooo good, the result is a pretty good sandwich for a little price, The Small $4.25, Also, Over 15 sandwiches with Avocado plus 3 vegie subs.
153 East Duarte Road
At 2nd Ave. Next to Carls Jr.
Taco Lita (A true Survivor of the 1960's taco stands. Not like the tacos you will get down the street at Los Chilies Locos but there is something about these tacos and burritos that Hits the spot. The place is alive with happy customers. Try the beef burrito or just a simple bean and cheese)
120 E Duarte Rd
Arcadia, CA 91006-3934
Also, nearby is
Canadian Café (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Pea bacon & eggs, Canadian style Rotisserie Chicken, Burgers, Onion Rings, Poutine Fries covered w/ Gravy & melted Cheese Curds )
125 E. Colorado Blvd. (Take Myrtle north of the 210 Fry then right on Colorado)
