Dear DT -
We took a ride up to Groton yesterday to search out GHG.. no problem in finding it - thank you! We took our time, browsing antiques until 4. There was a good sized party going on in the Barn next door.
What a delightful place - even more beautiful inside than the what the web photo's show. We sat at the bar and sampled two different Shiraz; the BVE Spires, a Wynn's and a Kenwood Cabernet. You could see green rolling hills, cows and calves out the window - how bucolic! The bartender was attentive and very, very pleasant. She brought out a small pail with a brown paper liner of handcut potato chips. (they were excellent) We then went onto onion rings (another excellent). She talked about the menu, while we looked at the winelist/scotches/ports. Decided to make a reservation for Thursday for dinner. Good thing you recommended doing that - the place got slammed in the first 10 minutes of us sitting there. Early Mother's Day diners - which would mean that they are full up for next weekend.
