I'm new to Chowhound; what a great place! Here's a Chowhound challenge: What's the best driving food?
I drive a truck for a living, and being on a tight delivery schedule, often have to eat while I'm driving. The closest to ideal thing we've found so far is one of Tom's Peasant Pies. It's relatively cheap, delicious, quick and not messy. But our routes (on any given day we'll be anywhere between San Jose and Napa) don't ususally take us near 9th and Irving. Dim Sum is too greasy (the steering wheel gets slippery), sandwiches fall apart, and fast food is beyond the pale. So, help me prevent another lunch of chips and water and tell me anywhere you know of that has fast, cheap, interesting, easily grasped food. Thanks!
