Driving over to the Bar Harbor area on Friday I began to see signs for Dan Dan. Instantly I reflected on the Dan Dan noodle thread. Keeping my eyes peeled, I slowed down (cars accumulating behind me). As I got to the location indicated by the sign, I saw that Dan Dan referred to some guy (for whom one "Dan" isn't enough!)who flushes out radiators! Arghhh. I know, I know. I should have known better! So far this post qualifies for Not About Food. But wait:
In Ellsworth: Very fine breakfasts at the Riverside Cafe. Laudable home fries too. Also the only espresso in town. Went to the Ellsworth Shop and Save; much bigger and better stocked than mine in Skowhegan (which is actually a good store). In the Ellsworth produce department I found: Pepino melons, huge quince, feijoas, yellow mangoes, tiny, ripe baby African pineapples, and both red and fingerling bananas. I bought a yellow mango to slice into a salad. This was the best mango I'd ever tasted. Anyone see them where they live?
I did eat some wicked good wild blueberries too. pat
