Dried Sea Creatures

Seeing as how dried fish has been discussed recently on Chowhound I though I would mention my favorite place to browse dried fish in Chinatown, Mayflower Foods.

Mayflower Foods has an unbelievable selection of dried fish, everything from dried abalone to seahorse, which I somehow can’t resist buying, even though I have not a clue what to do with a dried seahorse.

Mayflower also has a large selection of ginseng, both domestic and imported. The grocery items, including some fresh meat, are ok, but the sheer number of herbs and dried fish are the reason to go there. It is a small store, but I could spend hours just looking around there.

Shortly after the first time I browsed Mayflower I had a full-on nightmare that all the sea creatures at Mayflower had somehow been rehydrated and were advancing on the Sears Tower. Luckily, as in all my dreams, a crack team of Superhero Supermodels stepped in to save the day. {smile}
