Just had lunch at Dragon Spring Garden Chinese Seafood Restaurant. It's in a tiny shopping center on Thorton Ave, near Paseo Padre Pkwy. 3625 Thornton Ave, Fremont. 510-713-0228. M-Th 11am-9:30pm, F-Sat 11am-10pm, Sun. 11:30-9:30pm. Closed Tues.
They have a 3 dishes for $16 special which we ordered but they also have items over rice starting at $4.25 (per togo menu).
chicken chow fun w/ gravy and bok choy. Good dish, lots of chicken, gravy, tender bok choy.
pea sproots sauteed w/ garlic-good
beef stew claypot-good sauce, tender beef, didn't eat the tendons w/ lettuce.
Heard about this place from a HK friend who is a repeat customer. He has a business card from them that every time he orders more than $20 he gets it stamped. After about 10 visits the next meal will be 20% off.
With tip and tax I spent only $19.70. Must order more next time. They have appetizers, soup, meats, seafood, congee, clay pot dishes, mu shu, egg foo young, rice noodle/chow fun, rice plates. Anyone else tried it?
Also, next door is La Fogata Restaurant, a Guatemalan and Mexican restaurant. 3619 Thornton Ave, Fremont. From the togo menu I see tacos for $1.50, pan con pollo sandwiches $4.25, tamales $1.50, liuado de frutas $3.50. Wonder if it's any good.
