Dr. Hogly Wogly's BBQ

lil mikey | Jan 5, 2005 07:46 PM

I liked the brisket dinner last time I went, which was over a year ago. So this time when my buddy wanted to meet for lunch, I suggested Dr. Hogly Wogly.

The waitress was very nice, and moderately attentive.

I ordered the brisket lunch and my buddy got the brisket and links combo. They each came with 2 sides. I picked beans and cole slaw.

The servings are very large. The side orders are very small. The food was mediocre and the sauce was good.

The brisket had so much fat that the serving size proved totally misleading, as much of it was inedible. Of about 7 thick slices of brisket, only 2 were lean enough to cut and eat. The rest were so full of fat that you had to carefully cut the meat strips from the sides of the fat. And the rub is that it’s not cheap. I don’t remember the exact amount, but I seem to remember it was about $16 for the brisket lunch.

My buddy seemed to like his links, and didn’t comment about the fatty brisket. But I noticed he didn’t eat it, either. And his was more expensive than mine.

It was disappointing since I had good memories from the last time.
