Have out of towners visting this weekend and six or seven of us are going to dinner on Friday....and one person is picking up the tab. I'd hate to have her be hit with an enormous bill, so any suggestions? Everyone in mid-20's, would like something slighly "hip" but not stinking of Los Angeles plastic either. Close to the areas mentioned in the title would be great- just to give you an idea of what I am NOT looking for: Cafe Stella is too pricey and cramped, food at El Chavo isn't good, Pete's in downtown is good but the out of towners are staying in that building so we'd like to get them at least 100 yards away so they actually feel like we are going out, sushi isn't an option, Edendale- while the atmosphere is great- the food always disappoints, and Mexico City is too expensive for beans and rice, especially bad beans and rice. I don't mean to sound so ultra picky but I am hoping that you hounds have a bright new suggestion for someone who eats out a lot in those areas and has run out of ideas. Give me a shiny new suggestion and I will be forever grateful. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
