Downtown Pizza Story

For a while we were ordering delivered pizza from Tomato Head on Randolph Street in the West Loop.

Wasn’t the greatest pizza, but for some reason, we switched from our normal Pat’s Pizzeria on Clark.

One time, we ordered pizza for three days in a row using Tomato Head’s $2. discount coupon. We had several of these coupons.

The first delivery went fine, but on the second day, the delivery driver forgot to take the coupon back with him. So, on the third day, well after we had placed our phone order, Tomato Head called us back and said, we would not be allowed to use the $2. discount coupon for today’s order, because we used the coupon for yesterday’s order and the delivery person failed to take it from us.

I figured they knew we were regular customers, so, as a bit of a test, I told them to cancel the order, and to my surprise, Tomato Head said, ok.

Seemed like a lot of work and a poor decision making for $2. and a lost of a good customer, especially if they had started to cook the pizza.

They did us a favor, we went back to ordering from Pat’s Pizza, 638 S. Clark St., Chicago, (312) 427-2320, and were reunited with what is easily the best delivery pizza in the Loop. That is if you like the type of thin pizza that is served at John's Pizza, 2104 N Western, 773-384-1755.

John’s is better, but Pat’s thin, thin cheese pizza is pretty good, not like Naples, but they deliver fast, and never, ever deny you the $2. discount on a large thin pizza when ordering.
