Received good advice from Indianapolis chowhounds about places to try during my early Oct. stay in downtown Indianapolis, and tried several of the suggestions. TARKINGTON'S deli/euopean-type cafe was wonderful! Great quiche and interesting salad greens with pecans (walnuts?) and vinegarette. I was sorry I didn't get to try their potato pancakes. HOT TUNA, in the Omni Hotel, had a delicious lunch bufffet with a good selection of yummy salads, shrimp and crab legs, as well as hot entres. THE EAGLE'S NEST, revolving restaurant on top of the Hyatt Regency, had delicious food as well as an incredible view! I had the pasta prima vera which was done really well, perfectly cooked vegetables, with a light garlic sauce. What a lovely dining experience! And the filet mignon at ST. ELMO'S was great (though expensive), and came with tasty garlic mashed potatoes. The service at both the latter restaurants was flawless.
All in all, I had a wonderful gustatory experience in attractive (revitalized?) downtown Indianapolis. Thanks, especially, to Nancy and Matt for recommendations!
