Doug's Bar B Q, HMB: grand opening 10/28

For those who have been following the discussion about the recently opened Doug's Bar B Q in Half Moon Bay, I thought I would note that Doug's is holding a grand opening from 6-10 p.m. (or *until food runs out*) Friday the 28th. It's probably pretty good value for money as he'll be charging $15 for all you can eat ribs (pork), pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and all the trimmings.

I finally made it to Doug's while he had food available (I was the first in line this morning at 11:30). Things aren't quite fully organized, so you may have to wait in line, but the food was worth it. I ordered the all meat combo to give a few items a try. The combo consists of ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Chicken isn't currently included. The food was quite good with a decent smoke flavor. The brisket was tender and moist, probably because it was well-marbled with fat. The pulled pork wasn't pulled as much as I have had it in the Carolinas and was probably a bit fattier as well, but it melted in the mouth. And the ribs had a nice crust to them without being dried out. The cole slaw I also ordered was just okay, however. Doug's doesn't apply the BBQ sauce to the meats, you do, thank goodness. I hate places that dip the meats in horrible tasting sauces that you then have to squeegee off with your fingers. Doug's sauces range from mild to mind blowing. I tried the regular hot and didn't find it lasted more than a few seconds on the palate.

Anyhow, the grand opening might be a good opportunity to pig out, literally.
