Took first time trip to Dosa Hutt in Flushing last night. Had a Mysore Masala Dosa and a Masala Dosa, the second being less spicy than the first. There was a sauce on the side of the plate that seemed to have coconut in it. We were also given small cups of what seemed to be very tasty vegetable soup. I tried to engage the gentleman behind the counter about the menu, explaining that we were new to the cuisine and needed help, but we had communication problems.
Can someone tell me what rava is? Iddly? I think I had iddly in an Indian restaurant in the past, but only remember it as a rather bland, donut shaped thing. What about upattham? We enjoyed the food and will go back, but if some savvy hound can give us some pointers as to how to order, it would be much appreciated.
