Dosa Hut - New Hyde Park - Anyone been?

Charlieboy | Feb 5, 2004 06:04 PM

I was in New Hyde Park today and came across a place called Dosa Hut on Union Tpke. According to the owners they've been open 4 months. Its 100% vegetarian. I've been reading all about Dosa's on this board for the longest time and have always wanted to try them. Not having anything to compare it with and being very hungry, I thought it was very good(or maybe I was that hungry that anything would have tasted good). I don't remember the name of the food I had, but it was huge crepe type thing filled with potatoes and spices. It came with two different types of chutney, one of them was coconut and it was served with a cup of lentil soup. Its a small storefront place with tables and chairs and you can watch the cooking from behind the counter. I'd definitely go there again now I know where it is to try other things. On the menu it says they have 101 Dosa's. If anyone else has gone I'd be interested to know what you think in comparison to other places. They're open from 10-9:30 7 days and its located at 271-19A Union Tpke, New Hyde Park, NY. Their phone number is 718-347-6686.
