Don Felix Peruvian

Mario’s Peruvian was packed so we headed to Don Felix on Fountain and Virgil in Silverlake. There's valet parking, but as there was plenty of street parking, we parked ourselves.

We were seated immediately, and got bread and spicy green salsa. Usually this type of salsa isn’t as spicy, but it was good.

I ordered the Ceviche with shrimp, squid and octopus. Wifey ordered a chicken dish with a very long name I can’t remember.

The Ceviche was delicious. We had been to Don Felix before, and I wasn’t very impressed. Boy was I surprised this time. There wasn’t much shrimp, but the squid and octopus tasted really fresh. And the sauce was perfect. Not too acidic, and not too watery. They serve a good-sized portion so together with the bread it was plenty of food for dinner (I don’t like to eat too much at night).

The chicken was good, too. She liked the chicken better than the Ceviche, and I liked the ceviche better. So it worked out perfectly. The chicken was served with bell peppers and onion and I think tomatoes. I liked the texture of the chicken very much. It tasted like they cut it into chunks and then deep fried it. They weren’t breaded, so it wasn’t like chicken McNuggets. They just had a nice firmness on the outside and the inside was tender and moist. It was very good.

We’re definitely going back soon.
