Don Angie/Manhattan

Multifoiled | Mar 6, 201803:59 AM

After trying in vain to get a reservation, my husband and I decided to just chance it and showed up around 6:30 this past Sunday and were immediately seated at the bar which was almost full (as was the restaurant). I’m so glad we did as the meal was superb.
Highlights included the chrysanthemum salad (perfectly dressed chrysanthemum leaves under a snowfall of Parmesan), lasagna for two (yes a bit gimmicky but so, so good) and the black cocoa tiramisu (wow, this was amazing; dense, creamy, cocoa deliciousness). The restaurant itself is not very large nor is the bar, but it has a great feel to it. Service is casual but attentive, which I love these days. Unless I’m going to someplace like Del Posto, I’m all for a more casual type of service as long as it is professional.
Don Angie has only been open since October 2017 but seems to have quickly gained quite a following. Yes, I’ve read the reviews that its riff on the Italian American cuisine is ready made for the Intagram set, etc, etc, but in the end the proof is in the eating and I’m sold.

Del Posto,
Don Angie
