I went to Dominicks in Beverly Hills last Saturday night. The fact that they could take a reservation for 4 at 8pm with 1 hour notice was only the first pleasant surprise. We were seated outside under the trees and heatlamps on the beautiful patio. I highly recommend sitting out here if possible. The menu used to be steaks but has now moved on to small plates and sharing is encouraged.
Butternut Squash Small cubes of butternut squash that were sort of candied but not too sweet. Wonderful taste of cinnamon and everyone agreed that this was one of the best butternut squash dishes we have ever had.
Roasted Beet Salad Small rounds of roasted beets with some mesclun and something else that I cant remember. I do remember that it was very good, however!
Broccoli Rabe Sauteed Broccoli Rabe with Garlic. Simple, fresh and delicious.
Hanger Steak Medium rare, tender hanger steak strips buried under crisp arugula and parmesan cheese. Sort of a carpaccio presentation but the steak was cooked. Wonderful.
Gnocchi Oh my gosh. These were the lightest, most tender gnocchi ever. I am doing the low-carb thing but tasted one and then had to have a few more. This was the regular gnocchi on the menu, not the special (which was a gnocchi with shrimp.)
Pork Panini Sandwich This was a delicious roasted, shredded pork sandwich. The meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The bread (okay, I had a little) was fresh baked.
Grilled F.O.D This is what the receipt says. I have no idea what it means. But Im sure it was good. Fish of the day maybe? Hmmm.
Food, 2 bottles of wine, 1 martini and 4 coffees came to $188 with tax (before tip.) Our server was a lot of fun too and explained the items very well. Everything was paced nicely and we enjoyed our 2 hour meal! I will definitely be returning to Dominicks. Its going to be hard to decide whether to try new things or to order the same things that were so delicious!
