In search of warming comfort food amidst the frigid weather, we decided on Dok Bua Sat night. Hubby chose the seafood noodle soup and I had the Rad Nar. Both were outstanding, as usual, but I could only eat about half of the my Rad Nar.....saving room for the taro custard! When we asked the waitress if we could please take the rest home, she seemed quite aggravated. She then proceeded to get a container and pour my leftovers into the container at our table, dumping the gravy all over the table. As we watched in dismay, she just shrugged, wiped a little of it up with napkin and walked away. After a few minutes passed, we eventually flagged someone else down to clean it up and take our dessert order.
Did we commit some unseemly act by asking to take home our leftovers? I certainly didn't want to insult anyone, but I thought this was pretty standard. Also, I don't expect top flight service in a homestyle kitchen setting, but in the past the server usually boxes up our leftovers in the kitchen for us! It was really early in the evening, so they weren't that busy yet.
