Can you believe?
We didn't love it!
Had planned to get delivery, but South End was too far so we schlepped to Brookline around 9pm last night. Mom and cousin were accompanying me (as at Rouge, Zuzu and Sichuan Garden.)
We had (forgive lack of proper names, no menu at hand)
Vegetable dumplings to begin. Boring.
Thai iced coffee.
Basil Seed drink (oh what a weird texture experience! Like soft pomegranate seeds or melted juju bees!)
Chrysanthemum drink -- yummy, honey-like flavor.
Chicken Larb -- I liked it very very much, great flavors, but I would have liked more lime and more lettuce to scoop it up with. Can't wait to make this at home, or at least steal the flavors to do something with.
Roast Pork noodle soup -- alright, kind of bland, although we didn't make an exceptional effort to spice it up.
Ground pork sauteed with peppers and served with rice. Kinda bland, too.
Pad Thai, good, slightly sweet, and less heavy and greasy than others I have tried.
The best part was all the chili sauces that came in the caddy... and the price. We ordered a pad thai to go as well, and the total was 44$.
But overall, not amazing. And, would you believe, I wouldn't go back? Perhaps we chose wrong. But cousin prefers Rod Cha. Mom (a pad thai devotee) couldn't care less. And I just suggest the spots and go along for the ride!
Tonight I am pushing for Shabu Zen. I'll let you know how that holds!
