Dok Bua

I want to thank this board for the reviews on Dok Bua that I have read – I just moved back to the Brookline area a few months ago and heard about this place. Last night, after a 4-hour drive back from visiting relatives in New Jersey, my wife and I gave it a try. We liked the eclectic décor and inviting, homey ambiance. Not feeling overly adventurous, we opted to try out their ‘Dinner Special’ $7.95 for an entrée, rice, soup, 2 spring rolls, and 2 chicken wings. I thought the chicken wings were an odd touch, but hey – I was sitting next to a blue waving lamp so I went with the flow. I ordered beef red curry, and the wife chicken pad thai. We were thought the food was excellent – my curry very tasty, and her pad thai not greasy and full of flavor. We disagreed on their serving everything all at once on a big platter – I liked it, my wife prefers having her meal spaced out. A minor point of contention. We’ll definitely be back there, but will probably try something more exotic – any suggestions?? Also, is this a new place or a renovation of an existing store? My wife thinks she remembers this place a few years ago being primarily a Thai market with a few tables in the front, but not a full-fledged restaurant.
