new on Divisadero St.

Divis Fancy opened its doors three weeks ago. Sam and his wife, Amanda, have ambitious plans to be open every day from 9am to 10pm, serving breakfast-lunch-dinner with the standard omelets, pancakes, waffles, sandwiches and salads, chicken, steaks and salmon. After two years of plans, construction, permits, and PG&E upgrades, the former used clothing storefront is transformed with richly colored walls, wood and brickwork.
Not on the Menu and not-to-be-missed: the Meze appetizer plate $6.95 has an assortment of hummus, baba ghanouj, olives, tabbuli, falafel and my favorite—kibbeh. The kibbeh is a deep-fried crust of whole wheat flour and ground beef encasing a moist mouthful of pinenuts and ground lamb. Every dish is prepared to order with fresh ingredients and takes some waiting time. Order the house specialties. Turkish coffee $2.
