We slowly lost our affection for Southern Culture Kitchen as the fish offerings and other interesting specials dropped from the chalkboard.
When Dive N Boar showed up next door from the same owners we were eager to try it.It was such a mediocre experience that I don't even remember what we had.We didn't go back.
Well things have changed! After stumbling on an online review, we couldn't resist.the space is clean, casual and invititingThe menu is creative and almost whimsical. There are interesting bar snacks to a few entrees. but the focus is creative distinct small plates.I had a wonderful roast rabbit loin with mission fig reduction accented with a mild light rabbit liver mouse. The interest vegetable offerings, designed to share, were so interest they could stand on their own. They even make lamb pastrami in house!
The friendly manager out front agreed that gastropub was the best description of what they are trying to do.The wait staff are knowledgeable, engaging and down right fun.
I think there are signs that Greenville's restaurant scene is beginning to blossom.
