$80 for a truly mediocre meal in a place where I expect more, I admire Jose Garces, have eaten at most of his places, he needs to get into this kitchen and taste a few things, I've had a few really good meals here in the past.
The trio of enchiladas and the huarache (which is now a pizza or flat bread if you ask me) relied on cheese way too much. Cheese is an easy palate pleaser, I love real Mexican food and want complex flavors from veggies, meat, tortillas ,chiles and herbs more than just the easy mouth feel and richness that cheese provides, it's cheating. Tortillas are an important flavor component and these were a bit soggy and not rich with corn flavor. They accidently charged us for something twice and didn't have the ceviche that I ordered. Don't care if it was Sunday night and half the place was closed, no excuse for meh food from this restauranteur (maybe he has too many restaurants) and this much $. The waiter was lovely!
