Dissapointment and way surpassed expectation (Recchiuti and Greens)

Was given the small rust box of Recchiuti as a gift. All I have to say is this must appeal to someone else. I've been spoiled by Maison du Chocolat and Neuhaus, and Recchiuti is chalky, strangely flavored (I am not one of those people who likes the rose caramels -- sorry) and overly bitter. Way too much hype. This must appeal to people whose tastes are very very different from mine.

But I've been to Greens twice now since Christmas and I have to say that this place is still at the top of it's game. The Mediterranean sampler, is actually, the best meal I've had in recent memory. I honestly can't recall a plate of food I've enjoyed more. Oh, the hummus and hot pita bread! The artichoke -- the spicy tomato jam! What a treat. And the chocolate bread pudding with the caramel creme anglaise afterwards -- truly a revelation. Gosh I love this place. You can get the incomparable hummus at the Greens to Go. I'm planning on walking over there with the baby soon to get one of their sandwiches to go. Mmmm lucky me.
